Shawn Brooks

Shawn Brooks, PhD

As the director of residence life, Dr. Brooks is responsible for directing the management of an on-campus residence life operation housing more than 6,500 students, including approximately 96 percent of the freshmen class. As associate dean, he oversees the Career Development Office, Disabilities Resources and Services, the University Counseling Center, and Student Conduct. Dr. Brooks also serves as the senior project manager for the University of Pittsburgh’s Outside the Classroom Curriculum. In addition, he is one of the university's chief student conduct officers and an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Brooks has served in leadership roles within several professional organizations, including Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I), the Western Association of College and University Housing Officers (WACUHO), the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and NASPA—Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. In addition, he is on the regional board of directors for the Anti-Defamation League and the Thiel College Alumni Board of Directors.
